IN FLAMES Frontman Talks About Being Part of 'Guitar Hero III'; Video Available

October 10, 2007

A two-minute video clip of IN FLAMES frontman Anders Fridén talking about his band's inclusion on Activision, Inc.'s highly anticipated video game Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock with the track "Take This Life" can be viewed below.

Commented Fridén: "We played Guitar Hero II a lot on our tour bus, so to be a part of Guitar Hero III now, it's really, really cool, and [to] reach out to a different audience from what we normally reach with our albums. So to me, at least, I feel extremely honored to be part of this.

"It's a great song ['Take This Life'] and it represents the band. If you heard that song for the first time, you won't be surprised when you hear what else is on our albums.

"Everybody can play, and it is really fun. I mean, even though you never played a video game before ever, this is something that you can learn and master and everybody can take part in it. I think it is a party game but you can also sit there by yourself practicing to get to a higher level all the time. I think it's a genius type of game. You can be a rock hero in your own living room.

"The guitarists in our band always have more pressure. If the vocalist comes there and kicks their ass, that would be extremely amusing."

IN FLAMES is currently at the band's own IF Studios in Gothenburg, Sweden working on the follow-up to last year's "Come Clarity".

A new IN FLAMES track, entitled "Abnegation", is featured on the "Viva La Bands, Vol. 2" album, which was released on September 4 via Ferret Music and Filthy Note Records. The CD features exclusive tracks, written and recorded for the CD/DVD combo from some of Bam's favorite acts like CLUTCH, CKY, CHILDREN OF BODOM, VIKING SKULL and VAINS OF JENNA. A U.S.-exclusive track from SHINY TOY GUNS and music from other faves like GWAR, THE SOUNDS, DIMMU BORGIR and KILL HANNAH also appears on the killer compilation.
